Susannah Acland Art & Interiors is based in the beautiful village of Upper Farringdon near Alton, Hampshire.

As an artist, I specialise in “house portrait” commissions, combining expressive pen and ink marks with watercolour, to capture a detailed memento of a special home.

I also offer an ever expanding portfolio of works for sale in acrylic and mixed media, which focus less on detail and more on the nuance of the British landscape through the use of bold colour choices and intuitive brushstrokes, with a particular emphasis on big skies.

As an Interior Decorating Consultant, I offer a collaborative and affordable approach to design, where my clients are at the centre of the process. Whilst offering plenty of fresh ideas and advice, I “coach” my clients to help them make their own design decisions, so that the end result is a true reflection of them and their family.

Having established Susannah Acland Interiors in 2009, I have over 17 years of experience working with residential clients on a variety of interiors projects from single room makeovers to whole houses.

I have been creating designs, artwork and crafts for as long as I can remember. This passion started at school where I took fine art A-level and went on to study the History of Modern Art, Design and Film at Northumbria University.

After working in the charity sector for a number of years, arranging high profile fundraising events at The British Museum followed by Great Ormond Street Hospital, I retrained at the highly regarded KLC School of Design in Chelsea Harbour.  After achieving honours, I went on to gain valuable work experience at one of London’s leading interior design agencies before working for a small independent studio in Richmond Upon Thames, prior to setting up on my own.

I hold a City and Guilds certificate in Soft Furnishings and continue to make Roman blinds, cushions and lampshades for my interior design clients. 

On moving to Hampshire, my love of painting was reignited, having the space both mentally and physically to create my artworks. I love working on “house portrait” commissions – capturing the detail and atmosphere of a much loved home. I also enjoy the freedom of working in acrylic and mixed media, often on a much larger scale, where I can let my creativity free and experiment with colour and mark making.

I am lucky enough to have a dedicated studio space in The Hay Barn – a multi creative space – from where I create my artworks as well as work on my interior decorating projects.
