Acrylics and mixed media

In contrast to my pen and ink / watercolour paintings, when working in acrylic my brushstrokes become more fluid and intuitive, creating a less detailed interpretation of the landscape. I enjoy combining instinctive mark making using a variety of conventional and non conventional tools and additional mediums (such as oil pastels and charcoal), to create movement and spirit.

I am inspired by the expansive skies around my home in Hampshire and the wildness and unpredictability of the ocean. I regularly paint plein air around my local area and on the south coast, before working on larger scale paintings back in the studio.

I offer an ever expanding portfolio of works for sale in acrylic and mixed media. To enquire about purchasing any of the following paintings, please contact me on 07795 421 375 or susannah@susannahacland.co.uk.
